SOFT SKILLS, ATTITUDE AND ETHICS

FRS – TRAINING A TRADE, BUILDING A PERSON, OPENING OPPORTUNITIES
At Francis Restaurant School (FRS), we believe that a good professional is not defined by technical skill alone.

Cooking a great dish, serving a guest professionally or running a restaurant are all important skills. But to stay in this profession for the long term, to be trusted and to grow in a career, a student needs more than that: soft skills, the right attitude and professional ethics.

These are the values FRS places at the centre of its training.
? LEARNING A TRADE MEANS MORE THAN KNOWING HOW TO DO THE JOB
At FRS, we don't want students to leave with nothing but a set of technical skills. We want every graduate to become someone who knows how to work, how to cooperate, how to take responsibility and how to respect their own profession.

In the restaurant and hotel industry, knowledge and technique can be learned through practice. But to become a reliable professional, a student must be trained every day in how to communicate, how to behave, how to solve problems and how to face difficulties at work.

That is why, alongside vocational training, FRS places particular emphasis on three elements: soft skills, attitude and professional ethics.
? SOFT SKILLS – SO YOU CAN WORK WITH OTHERS
F&B is an industry of people. A kitchen employee cannot work in isolation from the team. A service employee has to coordinate with the kitchen, the management and the guests.

FRS trains students in practical skills:
Skill group Specific skills
Communication • Communication and listening
• Communicating in a multicultural environment
Coordination • Teamwork
• Coordination in the kitchen and restaurant environment
Organising the work • Time management
• Problem solving
Personal strength • Emotional self-control
• Taking initiative at work
• Adapting to new environments
Working well is not only about finishing your own tasks — it is about knowing how to work together so the whole team reaches the goal.
? ATTITUDE – WHAT DECIDES HOW FAR A STUDENT WILL GO
A student may not yet know how to prepare a dish. Their technique may be weak at the start. All of that can be learned and improved. But attitude has to be built from within.
THE FRS SPIRIT
PUNCTUALITY
DISCIPLINE
INITIATIVE
RESPONSIBILITY
RESPECT
LIFELONG LEARNING
We encourage students not to be afraid of making mistakes, but to own them, correct them and learn from them. Not to shy away from difficult tasks, not to be afraid of starting with small jobs, and to stay ready to learn from colleagues, teachers and those who came before them.

Because in F&B, nobody becomes a skilled professional in a single day. Competence is built through persistence, discipline and a serious attitude towards the craft.
❤️ PROFESSIONAL ETHICS – DOING WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING
For FRS, vocational training cannot be separated from education in ethics. A professional needs to understand the value of honesty, responsibility and respect.
Professional ethics means
Maintaining hygiene and food safety even when no one is inspecting
Using ingredients according to the rules, without waste
Being honest with colleagues and guests
Respecting the effort of the people you work with
Taking responsibility for the work you are given
And most importantly, understanding that every action you take can affect someone else.
FRS WANTS STUDENTS TO ASK NOT ONLY
"What am I able to do?"

…but also:

"Is what I am doing right? Is it responsible? Does it create value for others?"
? VALUES THAT TAKE YOU FURTHER THAN A JOB
FRS trains students for a future that is wider than simply having a job. We want young people to enter the workplace with confidence, with the ability to adapt and with a spirit of lifelong learning — whether that is in a restaurant in Vietnam or in an international environment.

EXPERTISE gives you a profession.

SOFT SKILLS let you work with others.

ATTITUDE lets you progress.

ETHICS earn you trust.

? EVERY STUDENT STARTS FROM A DIFFERENT PLACE
That is why FRS does not only train "people who know the trade", but aims to train "professionals who are responsible, valuable and have a future."

Every student who comes to FRS starts from a different place, but we believe anyone can develop when given the opportunity, the guidance and the right training.

And on that journey, technical skill is only one part. What we want to give our students is a foundation solid enough to practise the trade with competence, work with the right attitude, and live with their profession with decency.
FRS DOES NOT ONLY TRAIN STUDENTS TO GET A JOB.
FRS TRAINS STUDENTS TO BUILD A FUTURE.
